Floral Birthday

Hello Friends!
I decided that I had not used Magenta Madness card stock for card making so I decided to try a card using that color.  I used "Band Together" and "Tasteful Touches" stamp sets to stamp and cut out the flowers by hand.  Both flowers were stamped in Magenta Madness Ink and colored in using a dauber.  The other leaf sprays come from the Forever Flourishing dies.  The "pod" like stem is in Whisper White and the green spray in the background is in Pear Pizzazz.  I also used two of the Sweetly Stitched rectangles to cut out the background pieces in Whisper White and Magenta Madness.  I added a few small drops of liquid glue to the inside of each flower and sprinkled it with Dazzing Diamonds glitter.  This is an easy card to complete and I hope you like it well enough to give it a try.
Please leave a comment even if it is not in English.  I will translate your comments into English as they are posted so let me know your opinions.

Slimline Card - Thinking Of You

I thought I'd put the video tutorial for my first slimline card on my blog so you can follow it along. All the measurements are there for constructing the card. I will also put the Stampin' Up! dies and stamp sets that I used to make the card so you can order or find the stamp and dies that you can use from your current collection. Here's what you need from Stampin' Up to make this card:

Happy Birthday (Masculine)

Here is a card that I made that I think you'll like.  Many requests for a "man" card, so I tried to put this together and I think it came out pretty good.  Here are the directions in making this card:

  • The card base is made from Cinnamon Cider card stock.  Measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.  Score on the long side  at 2 1/8, and 4 1/4.  Fold on the score lines
  •  Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 and attach to the front panel.
  • Cut a piece of Night of Nave card stock 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 and attach to the second narrow panel.
  • For the Z-Fold, Cut a strip of Night of Navy card stock 1 inch x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 1/8 and 5 1/4.  Fold on the score lines. Cut another piece of matching DSP at 3/4 inch x 8 1/2 and attach to the just cut Night of Navy card stock strip.
  • Cut another strip of card stock from Cinnamon Cider 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch and attach to the just cut Night of Navy strip.
  • Bend all three layers together on the score lines.  The longest end of the strip attached to the left side of the card base and the shorter folded strip will be attached to the inside of the card.
  • Attach a Night of Navy liner 4 x 5 1/4 to inside of the card as a layer.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock for stamping the inside, 3 3/4 x 5.
  • Use the large sunflower image and stamp the large sunflower from "Celebrate Sunflowers" with Cinnamon Cider ink.  Color in the image using Blend alcohol pens in Dark and Light Cinnamon Cider ink.  Then use the color lifter to remove some of the dark colored ink to lighten up the sunflower and give some shadows.
  • Stamp "Lets Celebrate You" from the same stamp set.
  • Cut out the word HAPPY with the letters (now discontinued) on Night of Navy card stock.  Do the same using Cinnamon Cider card stock and attach the cinnamon letters to the backs of the Night of Navy letters to provide a shadow and to give the letters some support when the card is opened.
  • Attach the letters H-A-P-P-Y TO THE far left of the strip and gluing in place with tear and tape or liquid glue.
  • Stamp a 1/2 in x 2 inch piece of Whisper White card stock and stamp with "Birthday" from the "Well Said" stamp set.  Attach the piece with tear and tape and adhere to the second panel of the HAPPY Strip.  Add an envelope and send to your favorite birthday person!

I created this card in response to a posting by Rachel Doohen (ISTAMPTOO.COM).  I kept going back to it and just had to make it my own.  So with a few changes, this is the card I came up with.

Here is what I used:

  • Cinnamon Cider Card Stock
  • Bumble Bee Card Stock
  • Whisper White Card Stock, Vellum
  • Flowers & Leaves-Mossy Meadow, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz, Bumble Bee.
  • Basket- Soft Suede
  • Embellishments-Elegant Faceted Gems
  • Ink-Cinnamon Cider
  • Clear Embossing Powder
Assemble The Card AS Follows:
  1. Cinnamon Cider card stock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Using the "stamp off" technique, stamp the leaf pattern from Tasteful Touches stamp set in Cinnamon Cider ink on cardstock.
  2. Cut flowers and leaf stems from Cherry Blossoms, Forever Flourishing, and Sunflowers Dies.  I snipped the length of some of them to fit the placements.
  3. To make the basket, cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock and use the Stitched Leaves Die from the Mini Holiday Catalog to die cut and make a waffeled pattern on the card stock.  Cut into basket shape by hand.
  4. Cut rectangle from Whisper White and Bumble Bee card stock using the Stitched So Sweetly dies, third largest.
  5. From Vellum card stock, cut the label from the Tasteful Labels dies. Stamp "just because" from the Lovely You stamp set.  Immediately apply clear embossing powder and heat.
  6. Apply the cut out pieces and assemble the card, using dimensionals under the rectangles.  Tie ribbon around as shown.
  7. Inside, using the stamp off technique, stamp the leaf pattern again as on the front but only around the edge of Whisper White card stock that measures 4 x 5 1/4.  Adhere to the inside and the card is done.
  8. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed this card.  I would appreciate any comment.

Hello Everyone,
I have been busy making projects for the upcoming Christmas Season and I wanted to do some frames to make for gifts and to also to present to my classes so they could make them for gifts or Christmas home decorations.
This is a 4 x 4 inch shadowbox frame.  The inside figures are attached to strips of card stock that are attached to the sides of the frame.  Each of the figures had to be aligned just right so that all the figures could be seen when looking at the frame. I used the PEACEFUL NATIVITY stamp set and the coordinating NATIVITY DIES.  I used spanish moss and added it to the roof of the manger with hot glue.  I also added a 12 light string of fairy lights (from the dollar store) and attached them to the bottom of the frame to light up the background figures and the backdrop.  I intend to add some artificial snow to cover the bottom inside of the frame.  I hot glued the battery pack to the back of the frame, making sure that the access to the battery could be reached.  Please feel free to leave a comment if you like this project.

I wanted to have a project for my class to do so they could have something to give as a gift or to use as a Christmas home decoration in their own homes.  And this is what I came up with...GNOME FOR CHRISTMAS.
This is a 4 x 4 inch shadow box frame that I put together using the GNOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS stamp set.  There are three layers in the frame that the figures are attached to and those bands of card stock are glued to the sides of the frame.  I added the candy cane and striped mint from SWEETEST BORDERS DIES set.  I also added a 12 light, battery operated fairy light to the bottom and side of the frame.  I attached the battery pack to the outside of the frame, keeping in mind that the battery changing side should be on the outside.  I intend on adding artificial snow to the bottom of the frame to keep the light cord covered.  Please comment if you like this frame project.
