Silent Night Stand Up Card

Silent Night Stand Up Card - Open
Silent Night Stand Up Card with Band-Closed

On a 90 degree day in late August I long for cooler temperatures.  Thinking of Christmas and the creation of a beautiful card for the season, I logged onto Pinterest.  After scrolling through Pinterest I came upon a card made by Karen Squires (www.stampinbythebay.blogspot.com) that I had never seen before.  Inspired, I immediately grabbed some Crumb Cake 12 x 12 cardstock and figured out how she did the scoring and the cuts to create such a pretty Christmas card.  On her blog, there is an instruction link for the template of this card.  Here's what I did to create this simply pretty card:
  • Cardstock - 12 x 5 1/2 inches
  • Score at 2, 4,8, and 10 inches on the long side
  • Make diagonal cuts at the top of the card by drawing a line from the innermost score lines to the 3 inch mark on each side.  Cut the paper and fold the card on the score lines.
  • On the two front panels, I decided to use a single tree stamp from "LOVELY AS A TREE" stamp set, applied Versamark and white embossing powder.  I drew pencil lines in the background so that when it opens, the card looks like a snow filled landscape.
  • As you open the card you will also see the addition of a banner that heralds "Silent Night" on Whisper White card stock.  The background, a triangular shape that is formed when the card is closed, was embossed with the  small dot embossing folder.
  • With Versamark, I stamped the image of the Holy Family in the center of the card panel with the stamp from " All Ye Faithful" stamp set.  Also stamped the triple tree image from the "Wonderland" stamp set
  • After completing the stamping, I took a dauber with Whisper White craft ink, to fill in the "snowy" areas of the card and also used a white ink gel pen to make tiny snowflakes.
  • I added a "belly bad" for the card closure and added a stamp of "All is calm, all is bright" from the WONDERLAND stamp set.
Hope you enjoy making this card to send this Christmas season.   Products you may need are listed below and can be purchased from my web page, http://stampinjoy.stampinup.net.  Hope you enjoyed my version of Karen's card...Happy Stamping!!
