Joyful Christmas Lights Card

stampinjoy.stampinup.net

This time I thought I'd make a card with a little "light"-hearted touch to it.  This is the card we will be making in class this week and it is a pretty simple way to send holiday greetings.  I CASED this from a poster on Pinterest, alexscreativecards.blogspot.ca and she inspired me to make a few changes so I want to thank her for this inspiration.

I used the "FLOWER FAIR FRAMELITS" (Stampin' UP) and selected one of the smaller leaf / petals that have a smooth edge.  I rounded the edges to form the shape of the old fashioned Christmas lights that we used to use before the little Italian lights became so popular.  After cutting out each color I connected them by punching out from SMOKY SLATE paper, the electrical connections and cord. For the connections, I used the now retired but probably still available on the secondary market, the MODERN LABEL PUNCH.  For the "electrical cord" that connects them to each other, I used the leaf branch portion of the BIRD BUILDER PUNCH.  After cutting off the leaves, the paper is ready to give you the perfect curves necessary to make it look like an electric cord.   I used the WINDOW SHEETS PAPER and made them to cover each electric light color to make it more realistic as lights in appearance.  The mat is 4 x 5 1/2 in Real Red on Whisper White card stock.
