"Better Get Better"

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 189 #papercraftcrew #sketch #challengeblog
PCCCS #189

Hello Stampers,
I response to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge, I have entered the above card for consideration.  Love doing a nautical theme for a masculine card and this one fits the bill.  I started with a Whisper White Card Base and a Real Red liner (4 x 5 1/2).  Here's the rest of the recipe:

  • Took the Banner Framelits and selected one that is appropriate for the size of the card and cut it out in the Maritime Designer Series Paper.
  • At the top of the navy banner, I took the small banner punch and punched out a series of three red, three blue, and three white banners to add some interest and texture to the top of the navy rope banner.
  • As the sketch requires, a decorative banner was required to occupy one side of the banner.  I selected one from the "Lots of Labels" framelits and cut it out in Real Red paper and added it just under the navy banner.
  • From the sketch you can see that two narrow strips of paper were required to be placed somewhere on the card face.  I chose a Real Red and Night of Navy strip. 1/2 inch wide to be placed near the bottom of the card rather than the top.
  • In the sketch they seemed to desire a round circle or button.  I selected the compass stamp from "The Open Sea" stamp set and stamped it in Night of Navy on Whisper White card stock.  I punched it out with the square stamp punch and added a real red liner behind it by cutting the stamp in half and added each half to the compass piece.  I think it sets it off and meets the needs of the sketch.
  • The rest of the card was completed by using the small background "script" stamp in "The Open Sea" stamp set and stamped it in Smoky Slate ink.  On top of that was the ship stamp that was stamped using Night of Navy ink.
  • The Sentiment I selected for this card was "better get better" from "A Dozen Thoughts" stamp set and stamped it using Night of Navy ink. And THAT'S IT!!  A very easy, masculine card good for any occasion, especially a get well sentiment.
