Banner Birthday Card

Hello Friends and Stampers....

Was looking at some samples of "banner" cards and thought that would be another way to do a masculine card for a birthday or any other occasion.  I thought I would make it with simple lines and not too fussy and so this is what I came up with.  Very easy to put together, the banner and card flaps open to reveal the inside greeting which is "Happy Birthday".  Here's the Tutorial:

An Easel Card - Just For You

I had a request from one of the stampers (thank you Mary) that attend my classes that she would like to do an easel card.  I had one on display but wanted something different so I came up with this one. Looks somewhat complicated but very easy to do.  So I ventured to make the card you see before you.  Here is the recipe for this card, so you make one and post it so I can see your version...after all, we all should be willing to share our ideas to gain techniques and learn other options for card making that we haven't used before and, if necessary, CASE (copy and share everything) and make it your own.  Here's my easel card recipe:

  • Card base = 4 1/4 x 11 (your choice of card stock color)
  • Score that piece on the long side at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2 inches.
  • White card stock = 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.
  • Yellow Liner = 4 x 5 1/4
  • White layer = Embossed with the Confetti Embossing Folder, 3 3/4 x 5 in.
  • Greeting liner in yellow = 2 3/4 x 4 1/8 in.
  • Greeting face in white = 2 5/8 x 4 in.
Begin the construction of the card by taking the scored lines and fold, the 2 3/4 a mountain fold and the 5 1/2 a valley fold.  Take the white card stock ( 4 1/2 x 5 1/2) and attach it to the mountain fold 2 3/4 piece of the card.  The base of your easel card without the "stopper" is completed.

Take the yellow liner and place on the white card stock you just attached to the card base.  Glue it in place.  Then take the white layer (embossed with the confetti embossing folder) and attach that to the yellow layer.

To cover the oval shape in the middle of the embossed layer, take the yellow greeting liner and place it over the oval.  Centering the yellow paper, attach with dimensionals to cover the oval.  To the yellow piece you just attached you will add the white greeting layer.  I powder embossed the greeting " Just For You" with Versamark ink and silver embossing powder.  The "Just For You" stamp is from the Botanicals For You stamp set which was sold during Sale A Bration.  I also took a scrap of white paper and stamped them with the two flower from the same stamp set and hand cut them out.  Attach the flowers with dimensionals.  The card front is now done, except for the "stopper".

Stopper directions:
  • Cut a yellow piece of card stock 3 5/8 x 1
  • Cut a piece of So Saffron Dotted DSP from the Subtles paper stack, 3 1/2 x 7/8
  • Cut a piece of white card stock 1/2 in. x 3 5/8.
At the bottom of the inside of the card attach the yellow piece of card stock using dimensionals.  Using dimensionals will give you the stop to the card once you stand the card face up.  To that yellow layer, attach the dotted yellow DSP.  On top of the DSP, add the 1/2 inch piece of white card stock.  I added "on your special day" to the 1/2 inch piece from the Botanicals For You stamp set, using Versamark ink and silver embossing powder.  Once the stopper is placed on the bottom of the card you can emboss a "Happy Birthday" greeting to the inside of the card, using silver embosing powder and Versamark.  Add a couple of rhinestones to the center of the flowers and your easel card is done.

Bicycle and Balloon Birthday Card

Hello Fellow Stampers!

Spring is on the calendar but not in the air so I thought I'd try a card that just makes you think of Spring, warm temperatures, and Birthday Celebrations.  This is the card that fits that bill!  I combined the use of a couple of stamp sets to get to this final product, and they seem to work well together.  Here's the recipe for this card:

  • Whisper White card stock used as the card base.
  • Real Red card stock cut to 4 x 5 1/2 as the liner.
  • Whisper White card stock cut to 3 3/4 x 5 as the stamped surface.
  • Stamp Sets:  Sky Is The Limit, Pedal Pusher, Suite Sayings, Party Pants, and Sheltering Tree.
  • Punch: Balloon Bouquet
  • Ink:  Soft Sky Marker, Memento Black, Crumb Cake Marker, Real Red Marker, Basic Gray Marker, Sahara Sand Marker
  • Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight
  1. Stamp the bike image and the dirt as shown.
  2. Color in the bike parts in Real Red and Basic Gray, Sahara Sand
  3. Add clouds in Soft Sky
  4. Punch out balloons with the balloon bouquet punch in your choice of scrap solid card stock being sure to stamp the greeting on the lighter colored balloon.
  5. Attach metallic thread in gold from the balloons to the dimentional located at the handle bar area to connect the balloon strings to the basket.  Place the basket stamped with your choice of ink and cut it out, placinng it on top of the stringed dimensional.  AND YOU ARE DONE!
