White Dandelion Card - Thankful For Your Kindness

Mary, one of the regular stampers who attend my class, saw this card o Pinterest.  She showed me the picture of this beautiful card and wanted to choose this card as  one to make in class.  I am not aware of who the original author is, but whoever it is, I give you my heartfelt compliments on the creation of such a beautiful card.

I did my best to recreate the picture I was shown and probably my version does not come close to the original creation.  But, I thought I'd post this card because it has beautiful colors that work together and you can have an opportunity to emboss with powder.

Here is the card recipe:

  • Stamp set is Balloon Celebration.  i used the small round circle that is made up of many circles to start this flower.  I stamped the circle in Whisper White ink and took white embossing powder and embossed it.  From there I took the large "brush Like" flower and with the small brush like" flower, and touched the outer part of the circle using white ink until it was in a circle shape and looked like a dandelion.  Once it was embossed with powder and heated,  I made a second flower next to it, just a little taller.  It really turns out looking like a dandelion when you are done.
  • I took each of the Brush like flower pieces and scattered them in a floating pattern with white ink and embossed them with white embossing powder and heated them.  Once done, they look like they are being taken away by the wind.  Very pretty and so simple.
  • Any sentiment can be used with this card...sympathy, birthday, thinking of you, thank you and is totally appropriate.
  • I used Memento black ink to make the stem for each flower.
The card background:

  • Using Whisper White card stock 3 3/4 x 5 inches, I took a dauber of Soft Sky ink and swirled it in circular pattern across the paper.
  • Using Marina Mist, I loaded a dauber of color and went over the Soft Sky already applied to add some depth to the color
  • To soften and brighten the background I did the same swirl / dauber technique with Whisper White ink and swirled it in only a few places on the card stock.  I am really happy with how it turned out.
The Colored background card just made is placed on a 4 x 5 1/4 in. piece of white card stock and both are placed on the card base which is a piece of Marina Mist card stock that measures 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.

You're In My Thoughts - PCCC # 191

Hello Everyone!

Been pretty lax with posting on my blog but have had a lot going on in our family that needed attention.  The challenges will continue but, hopefully, not at the pace they were occurring.  So I have made some time to post another blog entry for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge # 191.  For this challenge, we had to follow this sketch:

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 191 #papercraftcrew #pcccs191
The picture that greeted you at the beginning of this blog is my interpretation of the sketch.  Hopefully, the judges will like the arrangement of my card, and select my entry as a "TOP PICK"!!

For those of you who would like to make this card, the following is the recipe:

  • Card stock = 5 1/2 x 11, scored in half to make a 5 1/2 inch card.
  • Card base is Lost Lagoon Card stock.
  • DSP - unfortunately, cannot remember the name of the package where this piece came from, but you can choose a piece of DSP that coordinates with the colors you have chosen..measures 5 x 5 inches.
  • Liner = Island Indigo cut at 4 1/2 inch square.
  • Banner = from the Hearts A Flutter Framelits, in Lost Lagoon.
  • Circle = Night of Navy, cut from the Circle Framelits.
  • Flower Base = Very Vanilla, cut at 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches.
  • Flower was stamped in Night of Navy Ink from the stamp set, Best Thoughts.  Stem was colored with Pear Pizzazz Marker.
  • The flower was colored with daubers in three different inks blended together: Night of Navy, Lost Lagoon, and Island Indigo.  I hand cut the flower and stem and placed it on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.
  • Greeting "You're In My Thoughts" was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock in Night of Navy ink and cut with the framelit from the Apothecary Accents Framelits.
  • Burnish the edge of the greeting that was just cut in Island Indigo ink with a dauber.
  • Using the Boho Blossoms punch, cut three different flowers and placed them on dimensionals and added a pearl for the flower center and two more down the banner to finish the look.
This card is a very easy but somewhat elegant card to send and can be an "any occasion" card.  I hope you like it and will let me know your thoughts.  Please see my Facebook page by clicking on the link for Facebook on the right side of this page.  You can also see my Stampin' UP web page by clicking on that link there as well.

Hope to have you comment on the above card whether you like it or not.  Always room for improvement...

Thanks for taking a peek!
