To My Friend - Botanical Blooms PCCCS # 193

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 193

PCCCS #193

Hello Stampers!

Here is this weeks addition to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge # 193.  To enter you let your creative juices flow and follow the sketch seen above.  They also provide beautiful samples for you to get those juices flowing, to hopefully, create a card that the judges love and will choose to be a TOP # 1 PICK!

Easy to make, the card primarily is made of flowers from the Botanical Builder framelits from Stampin' Up.  So here's how I made this card:

  • Whisper White card stock used as a base that measures 4 3/4 x 11 inches before scoring at 5 1/2 inches.
  • The liner is Mossy Meadow card stock that measures 5 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches.
  • The strip of DSP is from "Botanical Gardens" special Designer Series Paper, measures 1 x 5 1/4.
  • The circle is Pear Pizzazz card stock and is about 3 inches in diameter.
  • The series of tropial flowers were cut from the Botanical Builder framelits and So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, and Tangelo Twist. The leaves were also cut with the framelits from the same set.
  • The sentiment greeting measures 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches.  The four small flowers that are found on the left side of the circle and the sentiment strip was punched with the flower punch from the Itsy Bitsy Punches and the green centers of those flowers were cut with the framelits from the same set.  I added a few rhinestones for the center of the flowers.
  • The stamp of the sentiment, "my friend" is from the "Hello" Sale A Bration stamp set from 2016.  The sentiment was stamped in Cajun Craze ink.
Hope you make the card and see just how easy it is.  If you'd like to see more of my work you can see me on my links to the right of this page for Facebook and Stampin UP.

Happy Mother's Day - Grunge & Flourish

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 192

PCCC # 192
The card I made above was my contribution to the latest PAPER CRAFT CREW CHALLENGE # 192.  The sketch above was designed for us crafters to follow but add our own ideas, colors, and design but still include all of the elements in the sketch.  I hope I achieved it in the purple abstract card you see above.  Here's how I made it:

  • The Card base is Whisper White card stock, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches after scoring and folding.
  • I added a liner of Perfect Plum card stock, 4 x 5 1/4 inches.
  • The card face is designed on Whisper White card stock that measures 2 2/4 x 5 inches.
  • Using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, I chose the ink blot design and stamped it three times on the white card stock.I stamped the first time in full ink, the second time as a stamp off, and the third time as a  stamp off twice.  It resulted in a gradual lightening of the same color ink, which I thought looked coordinated.
  • I added the flourish stamp in the set Everything Eleanor and stamped it on top of the Gorgeous Grunge stamps in Elegant Eggplant ink.
  • To follow the sketch, I added a strip of Perfect Plum paper, 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches and punched the banner with the Banner Triple punch.
  • Adding the next element of the sketch, I took the double ended banner framelit from the Mini Treat Bag frameiit set and cut it out in Elegant Eggplant.
  • I added both to the card face, crossing them to the left of the applied stamped design.
  • I added the sentiment "happy mother's day" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set on a 1/2 inch strip of Whisper White card stock and cut that out with the framelit from the Mini Treat Bag framelit set.  It was stamped in Elegant Eggplant ink.
  • I added the flower to take the place of the circle in the sketch by stamping it from the Everything Eleanor stamp set in Perfect Plum and used a dauber with the same ink to color in the flower.
  • I placed the design on a card base that measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches to complete the card face.
I hope you like the card and I appreciate you taking a peek at my work and like the card recipes.  Please feel free to comment on any of my ideas. Please click on my Facebook and Stampin' Up web pages to see more.

Thanks,
Barb

Tea Cup with Flowers - Just For You

Thought I'd pull out an old friend in my collection of stamp sets, the Petite Petals set, and make a class card using this "old friend".  I like the A Nice Cuppa framelit set and wanted to do something that would be appropriate and feminine, maybe for Mother's Day.  So I got to work and this card is what I came up with.  Here's the recipe:

Cardstock =
Mint Macaron, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 after scoring and folding.

Smoky Slate, 3 x 4 1/4 inches

Whisper White, 2 3/4 x 4 inches.

Also used the "ribbon punch" to make a strip of Whisper White ribbon to place                   on the left side of the card face.  Just felt it needed something.

Ink = Mint Macaron
        Versamark
        Smoky Slate

Embossing Powder = Clear

Whisper White Baker's Twine (for tea tag)

Perlen-Pen (available at Joann's or Michael's) which is a liquid pearl that is squeezed into the center of the flower to imitate pearl centers.

Punches - I inch square punch (to make the tea tag)
Ribbon Punch - to make the ribbon o the face of the card
Petite Petals punch - to punch out the flowers that go into the tea cup after stamping.

Framelit-  A Nice Cuppa Framelit set

Putting It Together:

  • On the Mint Macaron card base, stamp randomly your choice of Petite Petals stamps in Versamark and allow to dry.  The images will be subtle but visible on the card stock.
  • Place on dimensionals the Smoky Slate card stock, centering in the middle of the card base.
  • Place a piece of Whisper White card stock over the Smoky Slate, making sure that the edges are even all around.
  • On a piece of white scrap, stamp the tea cup image with Mint Macaron ink and cut out with "A Nice Cuppa" framelit.  Stamp the flower image in the middle of the tea cup with Versamark and sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat.
  • Stamp an assortment of Petite Petals stamps in both Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate using the stamp off technique for some of the flowers.
  • Place the tea cup on dimensionals and place on the white card stock.
  • Arrange the punched and stamped flowers into the tea cup, putting some of them on dimensionals. Mix the colors of the flowers as they are placed on the card.
  • Cut a short piece of Whisper White bakers twine to make the tea bag string.
  • Stamp on a piece of white scrap the "just for you" sentiment and punch it out with the 1 inch square punch.  Trim the punched sentiment to form a rectangle and trim the edges.
  • Attach the bakers twine to one of the undersides of the flower and the other end to the tea bag tag with a dimensional.
  • Add a length of punched ribbon in Whisper White card stock to the left side of the card base for interest.
  • Add the liquid pearl in the center of the flowers and allow to dry. YOU ARE DONE!
