Valentine Treat Purse

Well, my last post wished you all a Merry Christmas so to be sure I covered all the holidays, I am posting this in advance of Valentine's Day but send my sincerest wishes for a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year.

This coming week my class will be making this cute octagonal box for a special friend for Valentine's Day.  This box "purse" is made from the Stampin' Up Window Box Thinlits (142762).  Instead of making it a box, I turned it on it's side and added some handles to make it a purse.  Added some additional Valentine hearts and some ribbon and you have a really cute box to fill with treats or a special gift.  Here's how to make it...

                                        Valentine Purse Tutorial

1. Cut two patterns of the purse from the Window Box Thinlits (142762)

2. The top piece is the front and sides of the purse and the bottom piece will          be sides and back of the purse. Cut out a heart shape from the purse front        using the framelits "Be Mine Stitched Framelit Dies" (148527).  Add a piece        of vellum paper to line the heart shape and glue to inside of the box lid.

3. Fold each tab on the fold line and crease with a bone folder.  Add sticky strip glue to each of the tabs colored in blue.  Do not add glue to the tabs around the purse front as you will be unable to insert treats or open the box.  Punch two small holes on the sides of the box to accommodate the the box.  See picture below..

4. Attach the two pieces together at each tab to form the octagonal shape..the first tab should be the back of the purse to the bottom of the purse…see above.  As you glue the tabs together you will see the purse form take shape.
After assembling the box, attach the handle (1/2” x 8 “) with brads after punching holes.

5. Punch out shapes to serve as the closures for the box.  I chose two hearts on a small strip of ½” paper.  Attach one end with glue to the front of the box and the other to the top of the box with a Velcro closure.
6. Decorate the exterior of the box to fit any occasion.  Add ribbon and tags as you desire.

Sneak Peek - Cards Made With the New Occasions Catalog, January 3, 2019 - March 31, 2019

Lasting Lily Stamp Set
Bloom By Bloom Stamp Set

The cards you see are a sneak peek at the stamp sets (Lasting Lily and Bloom By Bloom) that will be available on January 3, 2019 with the debut of the new Occasions Catalog and the start of Sale A Bration.
The card with the lily was done on Rich Razzelberry card stock as the card base.  The liner is Old Olive card stock and the stamped surface card stock is Whisper White.  Three of the lillies are stamped using the stamped off technique and two of the lillies are fussy cut and placed on dimensionals to lift them from the others.  The stems for all of the flowers are stamped in Old Olive ink.  The sympathy note was used from the same stamp set and stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink.  The oval was cut with the Stitched Oval Framelit  and is backed with a Rich Razzelberry scalloped liner.  Both are on dimensionals.

The green floral card was stamped with the new Bloom By Bloom stamp set.  For the card base I used Call Me Clover card stock with a Night of Navy liner.  I added a strip of paper from the Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper on the left and I stamped a series of floral images in Night of Navy, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, and Calypso Coral ink. Using the mini punches that compliment this stamp I added a couple of tiny flowers in Pineapple Punch card stock and Calypso Coral card stock and punched the centers out with Call Me Clover card stock.I added some Night of Navy ribbon and stamped a get well greeting from the Wishing You Well stamp set on Whisper White card stock and lined that with Night of Navy.  You can purchase the items to make these cards at my online store after January 3, 2019.... just click on the Stampin Up Web page link to your right.   The following list will help you order the items used here:

Bethlehem Pop Up Card

Bethlehem Pop Up
Bethlehem Pop Up Inside
Hello Everyone and Welcome to my Blog...
Thought I'd post the directions and measurements for this beautiful pop up card made with the Night In Bethlehem stamp set and the Bethlehem edgelits from Stampin' Up!
This is a beautiful card that is fairly easy to do.  The trick is in construction of the mechanism that allows the inside images to pop up when the card is opened.  Other than that...let's get going!

  • Outside card base (black) = 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Score at 4 1/4 inches.
  • Liner (your choice of DSP) = 4 x 5 1/4 inches.
  • Outside squares...Smoky Slate = 3 x 4 inches
  •                           Black Liner    = 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches
  •                                White (stamped surface) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches
  • Ribbon - 3/8 " Black Organdy Glittered Ribbon (147897)
Construct the card base by folding on your score line.  Attach your choice of DSP as a liner and then add the outside squares.  On Whisper White card stock square, stamp the greeting from the Night In Bethlehem stamp set in black ink.  Add the ribbon around the set of three outside squares and attach bow.  The outside of the card is complete.

  • Inside card base (Smoky Slate) = 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches.  Score at 4 inches.
  • Fold the inside card base on the score line.  Take a pencil and made a mark 1 inch up from the fold. This will serve as your inside liner and will make the support mechanism for the pop up.
  • After marking the 1 inch mark above the fold, cut up starting at the fold line at 3/4, 1 1/2, 2 1/4, 3 , and 4 1/2 inch marks up to the 1 inch line you just drew.  These cuts are then pushed out and back in at every other space to form supports for your pop up Bethlehem cut outs.

  • Attach the two Bethlehem cut outs (silver foil and black) to the three supports you just created to form the pop up part of the card.  Attach the silver first, about 1/2 inch above the fold and then attach the black skyline on top of the silver.  Add some dimentionals to the black skyline to pop it away from the silver skyline but be careful to place them on the support mechanism and not anywhere else...you won't be able to open the card if they are placed in the wrong area.  Attach the inside card (now just completed) to the black card base.

Now let's finish the interior of the card:

  • Upper Liner (Black) = 5 x 3 inches
  • Lower Liner (Black) = 5 x 2 3/4 inches
  •                   (White) = 4 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches
Add the star cut out to the upper liner and glue the lower liners and stamped surface to the lower part of the card and you are done.  Enjoy making this beautiful Card!

"Let It Snow" Stampin Up Christmas Card

"Let It Snow"

Welcome to Barb's Paper Pizzazz!  So happy you decided to stop by and take a look at what I have done for you this week.

This card will be made this Tuesday in my classes bu all my wonderful ladies who enjoy making paper crafted cards that I design  This card is simple to construct and it uses watercolor for the background color.

  • This card starts with your base card stock for the card that measures 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Score the card at 4.5 inches.
  • The liner is a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Card stock that measures 4 x 5 1/4 inches.
  • Next is a piece of watercolor paper that measures 3 3/4 x 5 inches.  I took the Real Red ink and squeezed the ink pad to deposit some ink in the lid.  Also did the same for the Lemon Lime Twist ink.  I took my aqua pen and diluted the ink in the lid and spread the inked water over the watercolor paper lightly in areas all over the paper, mixing the placement of the colored inks over the entire card.  You can let it dry at room temperature but I proceeded to use my heat gun to dry it out quickly so that I could proceed with making the card.
  • I selected the sled from the framelits called " Alpine Sports" and cut one in Real Red card stock.  I embellished the sled by adding an Old Olive wreath and a silver glitter paper bow to add some pizzazz to the sled (from the same die set).  I also added some baker's twine that I had left over from last year but you can substitute any bakers twine or ribbon you may have on hand as a substitute.
  • The snowflakes in the background are cut from the snowflake die from the same set.  I added some Dazzling Diamond glitter to the snowflakes.
  • The "Let It Snow" greeting is stamped in Real Red Ink from the Alpine Adventure stamp set on watercolor paper and is cut out with scalloped oval framelit in the Alpine Sports framelit set.  Your card is done....beautiful!
I hope you like the card I created and I hope you give making this one a try.  The items you need to make the card are listed below.  Comments appreciated.  Thanks for taking a peek!!

Welcome back to my blog!  Since the new Stampin' Up Holiday catalog is available for product purchases as of Sept. 5, I decided I'd take a couple of the pre-ordered stamp sets I have to make a couple of Christmas Greeting Cards.  This card is made with the Dashing Deer stamp set and Detailed Deer framelits.

I used Whisper White as the card stock for the card base which measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. after folding.  I lined the card base with Smoky Slate card stock that measures 4 x 5 1/4 in.  On top of the Smoky Slate, I added a silver foil card stock that was embossed with the Swirls and Curls embossing folder.  I chose another piece of Smoky Slate card stock to make the oval that the deer is on and cut that out using the Big Shot and the Oval Stitched Framelit.  I took the deer stamp and added Versamark ink and heat embossed the deer in silver embossing powder which really brought out the design pattern on the deer body  I added the deer after placing him on dimensionals to the oval card stock.  In the background I added some trees in Whisper White Card stock from a framelit set that I do not have the name of.  Tried to make this card more monochromatic by using just the silver, white, and gray combination of colors.  The greeting "Happiest Christmas Wishes" is from the Dashing Deer stamp set which was heat embossed in silver embossing powder.   It's still not finished as I would like to add some Dazzling Diamond glitter to the trees.  Hope you like the design and thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my blog!

A Christmas Card...In Early Fall...Peaceful Noel

The Peaceful Noel Stamp set from Stampin' Up! brings you this beautiful Christmas card.  I chose the card stock of Old Olive as the card base and fitted it in a Real Red liner.  I used Designer Series Paper from Under The Mistletoe to line each of the squares of Real Red.  Here are the card dimensions:

Card base = 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.
Liner (Real Red) = 4 x 5 1/4
Rectangle Squares = 1 5/8 x 3 3/4 in.
DSP Liners = 1 1/2 x 3 5/8 in.

I used the Stitched Circle framelit to make the Christmas ornament background and added a Whisper White Stitched Circle framelit for the inside of the ornament.  Between each circle, I added a 1/4 strip of gold foil paper to add some texture and interest.  The greeting, " Fill The Season With Happiness" is stamped in Old Olive ink.  I added some additional paper decorations to the top of the ornament..evergreen sprigs from the Pretty Pines Thinlit collection in Mossy Meadow card stock and also added some mistletoe sprigs in Very Vanilla paper.  I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the sprigs to liven the ornament's appearance and added a satin ribbon bow in Whisper White. I think it makes a very pretty presentation and I hope you like it as well.  Let me know your thoughts and thanks for taking a peek at my blog.

First Frost

Hello Everyone and Welcome to my Blog!

Made this card to make with my classes on Tuesday.  This card is stamped with the new First Frost stamp set from Stampin' Up!  The cardstock I used is Highland Heather for the card base and the liner is Soft Sea Foam.
Sizes for this card are the standard A7 card sizes (base=4 1/4 x 5 1/2) and the liner is 4 x 5 1/4..  I chose to stamp some of the greenery in two colors...Mossy Meadow and Old Olive.  The thistle is done in Pear Pizzazz but no matter what color you select, this stamp set makes any choice beautiful.
The colors of the roses are Gorgeous Grape and they become even more beautiful when I added Dazzling Diamond glitter on the lighter and shaded portions of the flower.  Wow!  Even though you aren't able to see it clearly, the glitter really makes a big difference.  I used a birthday greeting for the inside of the card and it is a beautiful way to wish your family member or friend  a happy birthday greeting.

Buffalo Stamp Makes Its Debut!

I was thrilled to see that Stampin' Up made a buffalo check stamp for us to use for a background.  I had to get it immediately and here is my first card made with this wonderful stamp.  I used Cajun Craze ink and applied it with a brayer to the stamp and used my Stamparatus to ensure a straight stamp and even color throughout the stamp.  I cut the Crushed Curry paper larger than the stamp itself in order to make sure that the edges of the stamped area were of equal width all around the card.  Then I just cut away the excess paper to make it fit the card.

In the rectangle in the center of the card I chose Early Expresso (4 x 3) as the background to the stamped white card (2 3/4 x 3 3/4).  On the white card stock I stamped the sunflower image twice from the Painted Harvest stamp set.  Once I stamped it on the small square card stock, I used a piece of white card stock to stamp the other and hand cut out the sunflower.  This was added to the front of the card on dimensionals.  I added some leaves from the Painted Harvest stamp set and used the framelits from the Foliage Frame set to create some 3 D sunflower and leaf images.  The sunflower was stamped in Crushed Curry with Early Expresso centers and Old Olive leaves.  The 3 D sunflower was stamped in Crushed Curry and Early Expresso, then hand cut and I added the Foliage Frame leaves in Mossy Meadow.  A little piece of Burlap ribbon was added to the edge of the card and I also made a loop of ribbon to add a little different slant on ribbon.  And that's it...this card is beautiful and gives a homey, country feel.. I hope you like it!
