The "JOY FOLD" Card

This card is called the "JOY FOLD" card.  Not exactly sure why it's called that, but I just loved the design and decided it would be a great card for me to try making.  The measurements and the directions are as follows:

This card is really two cards intertwined into one.  The larger card is the card base and is able to be opened once the smaller card is opened from left to right.  Then the large card can be opened from right to left....thus two cards.  To help you understand what I am trying to say, I think a picture is in order here.  This is what the card looks like from above when slightly opened....

And this is what the card looks like when fully opened.  Part of the card opens left to right and part of the card opens right to left.

Here are the measurements for this card.  I think that once you get going, you will see how easy this is to do and how impressive it is when it's opened.

  • Card Base (Tranquil Tide) 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 in.  Score this paper at 5 1/2 inches.
  • The small card insert (Tranquil Tide) 3 x 8 in. and Score at 4 inches.
  • Card front liner (DSP) is 2 3/4 x 4 inches
  • The small insert Front Liner ( DSP stripe) is 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 in.  You also can use the same dimensions for the inside of this small card done in Mint Macaron.
  • The small insert inside liner (Whisper White)  2 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.
The flowers were cut out with the framelits from the Tea Time Framelit set as well and the two medallions on the front of the card and the leaves that offset the flowers.  I tucked the corner of the small card that shows in the front behind the flower and the leaf set so as to keep this card securely closed until it was to be opened.  You can choose from thousands of printed and beautiful papers and make this card your own.

If you make it, please let me know where I can see it...and feel free to leave comments or questions if you like.

Thanks for taking a peek at my blog...

A Gift Card Holder and a Greeting Card In One!

A Gift Card Holder in A CARD

Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine who is a Stampin Up Demonstrator, Kathy, brought this card to a demonstrator meeting and I just had to make it.  It is a greeting card and a gift card or money holder all in one.  Here's how I made it:

Here are the measurements for this Card:
Card Base =11 x 4 1/4...Score at 2 1/2, 5 inches,  (Rich Razzelberry)
DSP Liner for the card face = 2 3/4 x 4 (Share What You Love)

Small Card (attaches to top of DSP) = 3 1/4 x 4 in. (Rich Razzelberry)
 Liner = 3 x 3 3/4  (Crumb Cake)

Inside Liner (Crumb Cake) 4 x 5 1/4
Inside Face (Whisper White) 3 3/4 x 5 (stamped surface)

Inside DSP for gift card holder = 4 x 2 1/4

I used the "Stitched All Around Stamp Set" for the outside greeting, placed on Whisper White with the Framelit from the Spot of Tea Framelit Collection.

I took a 3/4 inch punch and took a "half moon" out from the top of the card holder to allow room for fingers to retrieve the card.  I added a "for you" greeting to place on the gift card holder done in Rich Razzleberry and White from the Spot of Tea Collection.  The inside greeting of "Wishing You All the Best" comes from the Blended Seasons Stamp Set.

The card is done in a very generic style to allow you to use it for any occasion where you would be giving money or a gift card as a gift.  I think it can be used for birthdays, weddings, showers, graduations, retirement and many others.  I hope you take the time to make this card because it is easy and fun to make and I hope you will share your card with me when you're done.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!!
