Beautiful Fall!

Beautiful Fall!
This card is one with the Autumn Season.  The colors of the cardstock may not be those you might choose, but they worked so well together I thought I'd give them a try.

Merry Merlot and Cajun Craze blend together to make a beautiful backdrop for these leaves that are stamped using the "baby wipe" technique.  For those of you who have not tried this clever way to color, why not give it a try?  Here's what to do:

  • Line a lid of a plastic container or something that you can rest the baby wipes on.  Choose wipes that are thick, not real thin.  The wipes need to hold the ink for repeated stamp dips.
  • Select a stamp that requires color over the entire stamp...not a stamp that outlines an image, or one that has lines through it.
  • Take any color or combination of colors of reinker and drip them randomly over the baby wipe to a saturation size that will fit your stamp.  Dip the stamp in the ink a few times to distribute the ink through the wipe.  Then ink the stamp, insuring that the stamp is covered with ink.
  • Stamp the image you have selected on Stampin' Up! cardstock.  You should see variations of color throughout the image.  As you see the above leaves that have "purple" in them, I used the Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry reinkers to create those colors.  For other leaves I chose Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie.
This is a very different and unique way to color stamps and I will bet that your customers will love doing this new technique.

Please leave comments...would love to know your thoughts!

The Christmas Cardinal-Christmas 2019

Let's start off the Christmas greeting card season with an iconic symbol...the beautiful cardinal.  Associated with the winter season, this card will be an easy one if you want to make many of the same card for giving this season.

This card used the "Toile Christmas" stamp and die collection.  Stamped the cardinal in black ink and cut it out with the cardinal die.  The branch that the cardinal is sitting on was stamped in black and cut out with the appropriate die and colored with Stampin' Up Blends Alcohol Pens.  The Blend colors I used were Dark and Light Real Red for the bird and Old Olive and Soft Suede for the branch and leaves and berries.  The greeting was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and cut with the die.  I also used a branch die and cut it out from Vellum paper to add a little "winter" to the scene.  It all rests on Whisper White card stock that was embossed with the "Tin Tile" embossing folder.  I added a Cherry Cobbler liner on Whisper White card base...and there you have it...the Christmas Cardinal card, ready to send.

Christmas Card 2019

This is a very pretty greeting card to send to start off the 2019 Christmas season. I used the “Memories Of Home” stamp set and punch bundle by Stampin’ Up to create the embossed ornaments and the greeting.  I used the dies from “In The Woods” to create the greenery branches from where the ornaments hang. When you use those tree dies, you can turn them sideways and their branches become the greenery branches from which the ornaments hang. Add a bow and a few dimensional and you have a beautiful card front. Card stock used...Pear Pizzazz, Seaside Spray, Soft Sea Foam, Old Olive and Silver Foil.

Christmas Treat Box

Here is the video from my Facebook Live presentation on how to make this adorable cookie and tea treat box....

The box we are making is the box with the ties on the lower left of the picture above.  It holds a tea bag and two packages of Biscoff Cookies (like the airlines give you)...perfect treat for a co-worker or anyone you'd like to reward with a little something.

Easy to's what you need:

1.  Cardstock : 2 3/4 x 8.5 inches.  Cut three of these from one sheet of cardstock so you           can make a few at a time. Also another piece of the same color card stock measuring 2         3/4 x 2 inches.  These pieces are in Real Red in the picture.
2.  Cardstock: 2 1/2 x 1 3/4.  This is the Coastal Cabana piece in the example above.
3.  Designer Series Paper (DSP): 1 1/2 x 8 1/2.  This is a strip that decorates the box all             around.
4.  Scraps of Whisper White paper to stamp the snowman, hat, and stick arms.
5.  A length of ribbon about 15 inches long.

Put it together...

  • Score the long piece of card stock on the long side at 3/4, 3 7/8, 4 5/8, 7 3/4.
  • Furnish the folds with a bone folder.  Score the DSP paper on the long side at the same marks as the card stock.  Burnish the fold lines with the bone folder.
  • Take a corner rounder punch and round the small red and green squares of paper.
  • On the green square, take the small stamp that looks like snowfall and stamp the falling snow all over that card stock
  • Stamp the snowman image and his stick arms and hat with black ink on the white piece of scrap card stock and punch out all of the images.  Attach the images with dimensionals to the stamped blue card stock.  Color the hat, carrot nose, and holly with markers as desired.  Attach the arms and the hat to the snowman.
  • Take two sided tape and apply it down the length of the box.  Remove the paper liner and take the ribbon and lay it on the tape evenly.
  • Take the green square with the snowman attached and adhere it to the red card stock square and attach both the front of the box.
  • Add a tea bag package on the inside and two Biscoff Cookie packets which you attach with two sided tape.  Tie a bow and give to your favorite friend!

Let It Snow Treat - Gift Box

Hello Stampin' Friends,

Thought I'd share with you the dimensions and directions on how to make this cute treat box for someone special on your Christmas list.  The box is adorable and it's overall dimensions are about 3 inches long, about 2 inches wide, and about 1 1/2 inches deep....  Great for a hand sanitizer or a couple of special chocolates.  So if you'd like to make this box, grab some card stock and let's get going...

1.   Cardstock #1 (Real Red in this example) = 6" x 5"--Score at 1 1/2 inches all  the way around the card stock.  This will be the box that contains the surprise.
2.  Cardstock # 2 (Real Red in this example) = 8" x 3 1/8".  You will be scoring on the long side of the paper at 1 5/8, 3 5/8, 5 1/8, and 7 1/8. This is the box cover that slides on and off.
3.  Whisper White Scraps and Pool Party Scraps for stamping and layering.
4.  DSP - You will need the following pieces of DSP to decorate the outside of the sleeve over the box:
                                 2 7/8 x 1 3/4 - Cut one piece, top of slider
                                 2 7/8 x 1 1/4 - Cut two pieces, sides of the slider
                                 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 - Cut two pieces, ends of the box

5.  Begin assembling the box portion by burnishing the score lines of the 6" x 5" inch paper with a bone folder.  This makes for a crisp fold and the box is neat and in porportion.  Holding the 6 inch side at the top, cut up the score lines on the lower and upper portions of the this...

6.  Take a small wedge out of the creases where the tabs have been made.  If you cut straight to the LEFT of the score line, then cut the wedge by cutting out the score line.  Do this on all four tabs.

7.  Add tear and tape to the tabs on the opposite side near the score line....kind of like this...
8.  Take the tape liners off the tape and put the box together.  All sides of the box should be even.

Sliding Top:

9.  Take the 8" x 3 1/8" paper and burnish the score lines with your bone folder.
10.  Add tear and tape to the tab end of the box.  Take the folded paper and wrap it around the box loosely so that after you take the tape liner off, you will still be able to slide the top of the box off.  The box is completed.
11.  Use the Stitched Oval and Scalloped oval die and cut a piece of card stock...Pool Party for the stitched die and Whisper White for the scalloped die.  Stamp the snowman image as shown in Memento ink and color the snowflakes with Pool Party marker and his nose with Pumpkin Pie marker. Add the DSP pieces to the appropriate side of the box.   Glue the two ovals together with snail and attach to the top of the box with dimensionals.
12.  Add the striped Real Red Ribbon bow with glue dots and you have one very cute, hand made gift box for anything that fits!  Hope you enjoyed making this project.
