Floral Birthday

Hello Friends!
I decided that I had not used Magenta Madness card stock for card making so I decided to try a card using that color.  I used "Band Together" and "Tasteful Touches" stamp sets to stamp and cut out the flowers by hand.  Both flowers were stamped in Magenta Madness Ink and colored in using a dauber.  The other leaf sprays come from the Forever Flourishing dies.  The "pod" like stem is in Whisper White and the green spray in the background is in Pear Pizzazz.  I also used two of the Sweetly Stitched rectangles to cut out the background pieces in Whisper White and Magenta Madness.  I added a few small drops of liquid glue to the inside of each flower and sprinkled it with Dazzing Diamonds glitter.  This is an easy card to complete and I hope you like it well enough to give it a try.
Please leave a comment even if it is not in English.  I will translate your comments into English as they are posted so let me know your opinions.

Slimline Card - Thinking Of You

I thought I'd put the video tutorial for my first slimline card on my blog so you can follow it along. All the measurements are there for constructing the card. I will also put the Stampin' Up! dies and stamp sets that I used to make the card so you can order or find the stamp and dies that you can use from your current collection. Here's what you need from Stampin' Up to make this card:

Happy Birthday (Masculine)

Here is a card that I made that I think you'll like.  Many requests for a "man" card, so I tried to put this together and I think it came out pretty good.  Here are the directions in making this card:

  • The card base is made from Cinnamon Cider card stock.  Measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.  Score on the long side  at 2 1/8, and 4 1/4.  Fold on the score lines
  •  Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 and attach to the front panel.
  • Cut a piece of Night of Nave card stock 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 and attach to the second narrow panel.
  • For the Z-Fold, Cut a strip of Night of Navy card stock 1 inch x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 1/8 and 5 1/4.  Fold on the score lines. Cut another piece of matching DSP at 3/4 inch x 8 1/2 and attach to the just cut Night of Navy card stock strip.
  • Cut another strip of card stock from Cinnamon Cider 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch and attach to the just cut Night of Navy strip.
  • Bend all three layers together on the score lines.  The longest end of the strip attached to the left side of the card base and the shorter folded strip will be attached to the inside of the card.
  • Attach a Night of Navy liner 4 x 5 1/4 to inside of the card as a layer.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock for stamping the inside, 3 3/4 x 5.
  • Use the large sunflower image and stamp the large sunflower from "Celebrate Sunflowers" with Cinnamon Cider ink.  Color in the image using Blend alcohol pens in Dark and Light Cinnamon Cider ink.  Then use the color lifter to remove some of the dark colored ink to lighten up the sunflower and give some shadows.
  • Stamp "Lets Celebrate You" from the same stamp set.
  • Cut out the word HAPPY with the letters (now discontinued) on Night of Navy card stock.  Do the same using Cinnamon Cider card stock and attach the cinnamon letters to the backs of the Night of Navy letters to provide a shadow and to give the letters some support when the card is opened.
  • Attach the letters H-A-P-P-Y TO THE far left of the strip and gluing in place with tear and tape or liquid glue.
  • Stamp a 1/2 in x 2 inch piece of Whisper White card stock and stamp with "Birthday" from the "Well Said" stamp set.  Attach the piece with tear and tape and adhere to the second panel of the HAPPY Strip.  Add an envelope and send to your favorite birthday person!

JUST BECAUSE NOTE CARD

Add caption
I created this card in response to a posting by Rachel Doohen (ISTAMPTOO.COM).  I kept going back to it and just had to make it my own.  So with a few changes, this is the card I came up with.

Here is what I used:

  • Cinnamon Cider Card Stock
  • Bumble Bee Card Stock
  • Whisper White Card Stock, Vellum
  • Flowers & Leaves-Mossy Meadow, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz, Bumble Bee.
  • Basket- Soft Suede
  • Embellishments-Elegant Faceted Gems
  • Ink-Cinnamon Cider
  • Clear Embossing Powder
Assemble The Card AS Follows:
  1. Cinnamon Cider card stock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Using the "stamp off" technique, stamp the leaf pattern from Tasteful Touches stamp set in Cinnamon Cider ink on cardstock.
  2. Cut flowers and leaf stems from Cherry Blossoms, Forever Flourishing, and Sunflowers Dies.  I snipped the length of some of them to fit the placements.
  3. To make the basket, cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock and use the Stitched Leaves Die from the Mini Holiday Catalog to die cut and make a waffeled pattern on the card stock.  Cut into basket shape by hand.
  4. Cut rectangle from Whisper White and Bumble Bee card stock using the Stitched So Sweetly dies, third largest.
  5. From Vellum card stock, cut the label from the Tasteful Labels dies. Stamp "just because" from the Lovely You stamp set.  Immediately apply clear embossing powder and heat.
  6. Apply the cut out pieces and assemble the card, using dimensionals under the rectangles.  Tie ribbon around as shown.
  7. Inside, using the stamp off technique, stamp the leaf pattern again as on the front but only around the edge of Whisper White card stock that measures 4 x 5 1/4.  Adhere to the inside and the card is done.
  8. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed this card.  I would appreciate any comment.

NATIVITY FRAME

NATIVITY FRAME

Hello Everyone,
I have been busy making projects for the upcoming Christmas Season and I wanted to do some frames to make for gifts and to also to present to my classes so they could make them for gifts or Christmas home decorations.
This is a 4 x 4 inch shadowbox frame.  The inside figures are attached to strips of card stock that are attached to the sides of the frame.  Each of the figures had to be aligned just right so that all the figures could be seen when looking at the frame. I used the PEACEFUL NATIVITY stamp set and the coordinating NATIVITY DIES.  I used spanish moss and added it to the roof of the manger with hot glue.  I also added a 12 light string of fairy lights (from the dollar store) and attached them to the bottom of the frame to light up the background figures and the backdrop.  I intend to add some artificial snow to cover the bottom inside of the frame.  I hot glued the battery pack to the back of the frame, making sure that the access to the battery could be reached.  Please feel free to leave a comment if you like this project.

GNOME FOR CHRISTMAS

GNOME FOR CHRISTMAS LIGHTED FRAME

I wanted to have a project for my class to do so they could have something to give as a gift or to use as a Christmas home decoration in their own homes.  And this is what I came up with...GNOME FOR CHRISTMAS.
This is a 4 x 4 inch shadow box frame that I put together using the GNOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS stamp set.  There are three layers in the frame that the figures are attached to and those bands of card stock are glued to the sides of the frame.  I added the candy cane and striped mint from SWEETEST BORDERS DIES set.  I also added a 12 light, battery operated fairy light to the bottom and side of the frame.  I attached the battery pack to the outside of the frame, keeping in mind that the battery changing side should be on the outside.  I intend on adding artificial snow to the bottom of the frame to keep the light cord covered.  Please comment if you like this frame project.

Thinking Of You Card With Matching Mini Treat Box

Thinking Of You Card with Matching Mini Treat Box

A cute 'thinking of you' card that's bright and cheery for someone who needs a smile. Easy to put together we are using the Pretty Parasol and Under My Umbrella stamp sets with the matching punch. I've added a little bling to the umbrella using a few sequins to brighten things up and a tiny treat box that holds a couple of bite size chocolate candies.

Facebook Live Trio

Facebook Live, July 27, 2020

I try to coordinate the projects I do for Facebook Live.  But the ideas for these cards came to me and I just had to do them.  If you are able to tune in on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2 PM EDT to see how I made them so you can CASE them or add your own style elements to make these cards your own.  The small box that matches the Thank You card holds two bite size chocolate pieces...a cut little thank you to someone who did you a big favor!

Christmas Shadow Box Frame

Christmas Shadowbox Frame

I have made many shadowboxes before but I've never done them in these colors for the Christmas Holiday.  Each square you see is a 2 x 2 inch square of Garden Green or Real Red card stock.  On top of that is a 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 square of Whisper White card stock that depicts some Christmas vignette.  This is done on an 8 X 8 inch square frame.  Designer Series Paper of the same size  is attached to a heavy white card stock that gives it some support.  I made a 1/2 inch border all around so that most of the nine squares are arranged in a straight line.  You can do this easily by selecting stamps that you like and other signs of the Christmas Holiday that you enjoy seeing, and putting them on paper.  It may require a few attempts to get things the way you want them, but this will be a great home decor piece as well as a great holiday gift for some lucky person.

Each piece fits INTO each other.  Color with a dauber in Petal Pink ink and use the Petal Pink blends to color in the flower.  Then take your bone folder and curl the ends of the flower petals so they don’t lie flat against each other.  They should show some life and dimension on the face of the card.  Once colored, attach them together using snail.
  • Cut out 3 leaf patterns from the Solid and partial leaf dies.  The partial leaf die cuts should be from Granny Apple Green card stock and the main leaf structure should be cut from Pear Pizzazz card stock.  Once cut, glue patterns together and add to the back or sides of the peony flower.

  •         Attach a strip of DSP, 1 x 4, to the lower edge of the card.  In the middle cut a strip of petal pink card stock ½ x 4.  Attach to the middle of the DSP and the card is complete.

Hugs Prayers Love Sympathy Card

Hello Friends,
I had a request for sympathy cards so I decided to put something together and this is the card that came together as the result.  I think it is a very simple but elegant card that you can make and send to the family who has suffered a loss of one of their members. It is also suitable for a gentleman as well ...a good all around sympathy card to make.  Here's how it's done:

CARD FACE:

  • Card Stock: Pool Party, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches.  Score and fold at 4 1/4 on the 8 inch side.
  • Liner - Misty Moonlight, 4 x 5 1/4
  • Liner - Misty Moonlight, cut 3 3/4 x 5.  Use the long scalloped die from the Be Mine die set and on the long side, scallop each long side.
  • Liner - Whisper White, 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  Use the long scalloped die from the Be Mine die set and on the long side, scallop.
  • Using Whisper White card stock stamp the cherry blossom image from the Forever Blossoms stamp set with Night of Navy Ink.  Use the corresponding die from the Cherry Blossoms dies and cut out the spray of blossoms. Color the blossoms and leaves using the Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Blender pens.
  • Using Misty Moonlight card stock, select and cut out the corresponding die from the Ornate Frames die set.  Also from Whisper White card stock, cut out the matching liner from the Ornate Frames die and stamp with "Hugs, Prayers, Love" in Night of Navy Ink.  Attach them together and place dimensionals on back side.
  • Take Misty Moonlight ribbon and glue a length to the back side of the scalloped liners.  Make a simple bow with the ribbon.
  • Attach all three layered liners and attach to card base.  Attach the die cut of blossoms with dimensionals.  Attach the Ornate Frames die cut over the ribbon with dimensionals.  Attach the bow with glue dots.
Inside Card:
  • Cut Misty Moonlight Card Stock, 4 x 5 1/4 and attach to inside of the card as a liner.
  • Cut Pool Party card stock, 3 3/4 x 5.  You will be stamping on this card stock.
  • Stamp the partial image of the cherry blossoms in the lower right and upper left corners with Night Of Navy ink.  Add in upper right corner a coouple of blossoms and single leafs in Night Of Navy ink.
  • Stamp sentiment as shown from the Kindness and Compassion stamp set in Night of Navy Ink.  Place liner and stamped card stock inside and attach.  The card is done.

Daisy Gift Box and Matching Birthday Card

Welcome to another tutorial.  Sharing my ideas for making this Daisy Gift Box and Matching Birthday Card...just the right compliment for gift giving.

Here are Directions for the Box: (box measures 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches.)

  • Measure card stock 7 3/16"square.  This will be the bottom of the box.
  • Score the paper at 2" on all four sides.
  • Please reference the picture above.  The black lines are the score marks and each of the tabs in the corners is cut, wedged, and turned 45 degrees in pinwheel fashion.  The wedge (small sliver of the tab) is cut on the tab side, not the box side.  Repeat the cut on the score mark up to the next score line and wedge each side of the tab as shown.
  • Fold all the fold lines and burnish with a bone folder to give the box a crisp and precise edge.
  • Apply tear & tape to each of the four tabs in the manner shown.  You must use tear and tape so the box will hold together well.  Applying snail is not enough hold power for a box.
  • Assemble the box bottom.
Directions for the Lid:
  • Measure card stock or DSP at 6 1/4" square.  Score at 1 1/2" on all four sides.  Repeat cutting the tabs in the manner shown, fold on the score lines, and apply tear & tape to the tabs and assemble the box lid.
Finish the Box:

Items you will need:
  • Daisy punch
  • Medium daisy punch
  • Leaf punch
  • Old Olive Ribbon - sample on the box is 1/8" wide and assembled using a three loop technique
  • 1/2" circle punch
  • Strips of DSP that measure 1 1/4 x 3". Cut 4 and apply to the sides of the box lid as shown in the picture.
  1. Punch two daisies out of scrap card stock.
  2. Punch two daisies from the daisy punch.  Put two layer daisy flower together with snail.
  3. Punch two flowers from the medium daisy punch from Whisper White card stock.
  4. Take the Leaf punch and punch four leaf patterns from Mossy Meadow card stock. Arrange the daisies on the box lid and place the leaf sets wherever it loos pleasing to the eye.  Make a triple loop bow from ribbon you may have.  This could be an optional set.
  5. Punch two 1/2" circles and use them to be the center of the daisies.  Glue with snail.
Add any finishing touches to the gift box you may like.  The box is completed...now let's move onto the card...

Card Instructions:
  • From Crushed Curry card stock, cut a piece 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.  Score on the long side at 4 1/4".
  • Add the liner, Whisper White card stock, with snail that measures 4 x 5 1/4".
  • Add another liner in Whisper White card stock with snail, measuring 3 3/4 x 5".
  • Cut a strip of Crushed Curry card stock, 1 1/4 x 5 and apply with snail to liner to the far left of the card face.
  • Cut a strip of DSP, 1 x 4 3/4 " and apply to Crushed Curry card stock with snail.
  • Punch 4 large daisies in Crushed Curry card stock and bind together with snail, making two large daisy flowers.
  • Punch 2 medium daisies in Whisper White card stock and bind together with snail, making one smaller daisy flower.
  • Punch 3 - 1/2 inch circles with the punch and apply to the centers of each of the flowers.
  • Punch 4 leafs with the Leaf punch and arrange and attach to the daisy flowers with snail.
